Composite Sales Manager

Salary: $150,000

This is a privately owned manufacturer of composite tooling for aerospace and defense. Tools are printed near net shape on large format additive and machined to final, which takes weeks out of a lead time that would otherwise run months on metallic tooling.

One of the founders is stepping back from selling, so his aerospace composites account base transfers with the role. There is one other salesperson, based on the West Coast, so an East Coast or Central base fits well.

It is a small company, so quotes are priced by the people who build the tool and you can give a customer an answer without waiting on a committee.

Responsibilities:

  • Take over an existing aerospace and defense tooling account base
  • Win new programs with primes, tier ones and structures shops
  • Run RFQs and proposals with engineering, from enquiry through to award
  • Get in early enough on a program to influence the tool concept rather than quoting to a fixed print
  • Travel 25 – 30% for customer visits and trade shows
  • Build new pipeline alongside the inherited accounts

Experience required:

  • 3 to 4 years minimum selling into composites, whether that is parts, tooling or raw material such as prepreg
  • Aerospace and defense end markets
  • Track record selling engineered, quoted work
  • Willing to travel 25 to 30%
  • US person status for export controlled work
